Aishwarya Rai refused to be the Indian face of a skin-lightening cream by a global cosmetic company.

After Aishwraya turned down the offer, the cosmetic company signed Sonam Kapoor to endorse the fairness cream. The cosmetic company is positioning Sonam Kapoor as a ‘young face’, as opposed to Aishwarya Rai who may now be called the ‘older face’ of the cosmetic industry. However, a source reveals that the key factor behind Sonam Kapoor being the new face has got nothing to do with her age.

Revealing the real reason for Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan’s refusal and Sonam Kapoor’s subsequent approval, our source said, “It was the fairness cream that bothered Aishwarya.

How to Apply Bronzer

Posted by admin On December - 29 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Apply bronzer where the sun would normally warm the face, such as on tops of cheekbones, temples, bridge of nose and tip of chin. Avoid mixing bronzer into foundation or applying all over the face. To ensure proper application, be sure to use a large makeup brush with longer bristles.

BRONZER TIPS

1 – Bronzer alone can appear dull. For a dewy look, apply cream blush to the apples of your cheeks. The combination of bronzer and cream blush is absolutely gorgeous.

According to makeup artist Bobbi Brown, bronzer looks best on days you don’t wear a lot of foundation.

2 – Keep foundation to a minimum when applying bronzer as this can make your complexion too orange and “dirty” when the bronzer is applied. Apply a little tinted moisturizer if you must.

3 – Apply a little pink blusher to your cheeks as well to give a more natural looking glow.

4 – You must apply bronzer with the correct kind of brush – a wide and fluffy powder brush will work best. My favourite bronzer brushes are big, thick and soft with LONG bristles. This ensures an even application without harsh lines.

5 – When applying any kind of bronzer, it is best to start with a light application and build from there. If you make a mistake and apply too much, wipe off with some cotton wool or apply some light face powder on top to lighten the colour.

Dry Hair Care

Posted by admin On December - 28 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Dry hair is hair that does not contain enough moisture. This is usually because the cuticle has become heavily weathered and porous, so that the cortex cannot retain water. It shows up more in long hair than in short, simply because the hair has been growing for longer and therefore has weathered more. It is more common in women than in men, because women are more likely to wear their hair long. The dryness may come to affect more of the hair if it is given repeated chemical treatments, particularly perming, and especially perming associated with bleaching/colouring.Your hair is dry if: * it looks dull * it feels dry or rough * it tangles easily * it is difficult to comb or brush * it has been treated chemically (permed, bleached or colored) * it is liable to split ends * it is dry and frizzy. If your hair matches any of these criteria, you should choose a shampoo and conditioner that are designed for dry hair.

Combat the damage of chemical treatments, colouring, heat-styling and environmental pollution by deep-conditioning your hair on a regular basis. This will help replenish lost moisture and keep locks shiny and resilient. Clean your hair frequently, using good-quality products. Product: Moisturizing Shampoos and Conditioners – Good for very dry hair. Restores moisture lost in blow-drying.

And essentially – do not forget to condition it well. Leave-in Conditioners and Re-constructive detanglers are the correct products to use. A light leave-in conditioner is great for creating shine and body to straight hair and for taming. Have the ends cut regularly by a skilled stylist, so as to prevent weathering effects such as split ends.

How to Care Dry Skin

Posted by admin On December - 28 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Sometimes when one suffers from dry skin the thought is they can re-moisturise their skin by bathing it in water. Doing this will in fact make things worse, as it removes the protective sebum (oil layer) from the skin, making skin more prone to drying than before. Some of the best ways to re-hydrate skin are:

  • Have a healthy balanced diet full of foods which contain sulphur, Vitamin A, B and C which are all great for the skin.
  • Wash with good soap products such as Dove or Olay, which don’t dry skin so much.
  • Don’t bathe more than once if you can help it. Bathing excessively removes the protective sebum (oil layer) from the skin.
  • Use lukewarm water when bathing, hot water dries the skin out more.
  • Use a good moisturising cream, particularly after shaving.
  • If you can afford it, buying an air humidifier to use throughout the winter months can help counter the drying effects of central heating usage.

Louis Vuitton

Posted by admin On December - 27 - 2008 ADD COMMENTS

Louis Vuitton (born, August 4, 1821; died, February 27, 1892), future founder of his eponymous company, was born in Jura, France (now part of the commune of Lavans-sur-Valouse). In 1835, he moved to Paris. The trip from his hometown to Paris was over 400 kilometers (249 mi), and he travelled the distance by foot. On his way there, he picked up a series of odd jobs to pay for his journey. There, he became an apprentice Layetier to prominent households. Because of his well established reputation in his field, Napoleon III of France appointed Vuitton as Layetier to his wife, Empress Eugénie de Montijo. Through his experience with the French aristocracy, he developed expert knowledge of what made a good travelling case. It was then that he began to design his own luggage, setting the foundations for LV Co.

1854 through 1892

Louis Vuitton: Malletier à Paris was founded by Monsieur Vuitton in 1853 on Rue Neuve des Capucines in Paris. Before his quality trunks, French philosopher, Denis Diderot & Jean Le Rond d’Alembert makes mention of a Malletier and his techniques about 140 years earlier. In 1858, Monsieur Vuitton introduced his flat-bottom trunks with trianon canvas (they were lightweight and airtight). Before the introduction of Vuitton’s trunks, rounded-top trunks were used, generally to promote water run off, and thus could not be stacked. It was Vuitton’s gray Trianon canvas flat trunk that allowed the ability to stack for ease with voyages. Becoming successful and prestigious, many other luggagemakers began to imitate LV’s style and design.

In 1867, the company participated in the universal exhibition in Paris. To protect against the duplication of his look, he changed the Trianon design to a beige and brown stripes design in 1876.By 1885, the company opened its first store in London, England on Oxford Street. Soon thereafter, due to the continuing imitation of his look, in 1888, the Damier Canvas pattern was created by Louis Vuitton, bearing a logo that reads “marque L. Vuitton déposée,” which translates to “mark L. Vuitton deposited” or, roughly, “L. Vuitton trademark”. In 1893, Louis Vuitton died, and the company’s management passed to his son.
