IT’S not just the world of fashion in which Vera Wang has made her mark. For her contribution to costume design, the designer is to be inducted into the US Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
Having taken up the sport at the age of eight, Wang went on to compete in the annual championship in 1968 and her fashionable career move came as a result of not making the US Olympic figure skating team.
“Skating was a chance for me to express myself in a creative way. It was the blend of all worlds – music, dance, athletics, choreography and, of course, costumes.

The 32nd Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) took place last night at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), with four talented designers taking the major awards:
Overall Winner: Luk King Hei; collection: “Rely On!”
Casual & Jeans-wear Group Winner: Phoebe Wong Yu Ming; collection: “Street Diviner”
Contemporary Day-wear Group Winner: Ronnie Tung Sin Man; collection: “Life As a Nomad”
Party & Evening-wear Group Winner: Summer Wong Wai Ming; collection: “Knot Theory”
Enjoying the spotlight are this year’s YDC winners, with models displaying their award-winning designs. Joining them on stage is Vincent Fong (fifth from left), Chairman of the HKTDC Garment Advisory Committee and Chief Judge at this year’s YDC.

Katrina Kaif recently launched a spa at Lokhandwala. Dressed in aqua blue dress she sure made her presence felt. The fashion police though feels that her dress was rather odd and seemed like she recycled an old party dress and transformed it into a salwar kameez.
