Salma Hayek Makes Make-up

Posted by admin On March - 24 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Inspired by her grandmother, a former cosmetologist who blended her own creams using secret ingredients sourced in the Latin America, Hayek has spent the past two or three years researching methods and ingredients for a number of anti-aging products.

“I’m trying to develop a line with a drugstore so that it is affordable for everyone”, say Hayek. “My whole approach is how can we get the essence of the really expensive [brands], but for everyone to be able to afford”.

Burberry’s Spring Fashion

Posted by admin On March - 24 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Christopher Bailey’s Burberry girls are the portrait of cool fragility.

Mention the man behind Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Bailey, and even the most fashion-forward look smitten. Faces soften, facades drop, usually accompanied by sighs and gushy exclamations about what they covet from this season. Everyone, it seems, wants to be a Bailey girl, because of his unique understanding of how women want to dress. “Clothes should be able to reflect your mood,” he says. “I like to have a sense
of narrative. I don’t like anything that’s out of context.”

For this season’s “Garden Girls” collection, Bailey imagined his “women” looking earthy and grounded, with pieces bearing quiet washes of rich browns, pale grays, dusky blues, and acidic yellows. From a distance, the collection is uncomplicated and classic, but look closely and it is surprisingly rich in texture and detail. A long ’30s-style cardigan in dusty rose is edged with large matte metallic bronze and silver discs; a loose mustard chiffon flapper dress is covered in pointillist dots of color; and the yellow trench’s jacquard pattern is woven with appliquéd ribbon
and lace. “This collection is about disheveled elegance,” says Bailey, who joined the company in 2001 as creative director. “I like quiet luxury; I don’t like grand dramatic gestures. This is what Burberry’s about.”

Kate Moss Latest Rock Chick Hair Style

Posted by admin On March - 23 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Our Kate is never one to rest on her beauty laurels and it looks like the supermodel is shaking up her style yet again for the Mummy Rocks charity event. Ms Moss was sporting trimmed tresses with heavy layering around the crown and a mussed-up texture that I assume was the work of her best friend, famed stylist James Brown.

Gisele Bündchen whirls through her West Village brownstone — a tornado in skinny black jeans, tank top, filmy cardigan, and hausfrau slippers. Devoid of makeup, her mane of tawny hair slightly mussed, she speaks in a rapid-?re, throaty Brazilian accent. “I’m a very hyper person,” she says, rummaging through imaginary piles of clutter in her sparely decorated home away from home. (She splits her time among New York, Los Angeles, and Boston, where she lives with Tom Brady.) Indeed, while the 28-year-old could easily rest on her laurels given her enormous supermodular success, stillness just isn’t part of her repertoire.

Though Gisele clocks in at nearly six feet and has a bod that stops traffic (but is a mere size 4), it’s the one-two punch of her significant physical assets and her wham-bam personality that has not only catapulted her to the top of the modeling world but also kept her firmly at its apex for a decade and counting. “She is even better in the ?esh,” says Dior designer John Galliano. “I think it was her first season in Paris when she came to do a fitting. I had heard about Gisele, but when she walked in the room I felt like my ?ngers had been put into the electrical socket, like, pwoah! Pure electricity.”

“What I love about her is her sensuality and energy,” seconds designer Donatella Versace. “Gisele is one of a kind.”

In her ascendancy after the waif era, Gisele recalled the supermodels of the early ’90s: Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, and Tatjana Patitz. Of course, Gisele doesn’t think of herself as a supermodel at all.

Newlywed Salma Hayek’s husband is the CEO of a multibillion dollar fashion empire – but he’s not above playing stylist for his wife.

“François was my stylist,” Hayek, 42, tells InStyle for its April issue about the champagne Bottega Veneta gown she wore to the Golden Globes. “It was Christmas and I was just overwhelmed with so many things to do. He said, ‘Let me help you. How can I help?’

“And I said, ‘Well, I have to pick a dress for the Golden Globes,’ ” Hayek continues, recounting her conversation with hubby François Henri-Pinault, whose company PPR oversees Balenciaga, Gucci and YSL. “So Bottega Veneta sent swatches and sketches, and François worked with the designer Tomas Maier, and he took care of everything.”
