Chanel Les Khakis de Chanel Nail Collection

Posted by admin On August - 20 - 2010 1 COMMENT

The first Fashion’s Night Out was an evening that went down in nail polish history.

It was the night Chanel Nail Vernis in Jade — the minty green shade that, given its prominent positioning on the finger tips of just about every film star and fashionista, is in our minds the official nail color of Fall 2009 — was first made available to the public.

This year, Chanel is keeping with the FNO manicure, but this time it’s courtesy of a trio of on-trend shades that global creative director Peter Philips created exclusively for the evening. In three different tones of khaki — rose, brown, and green — the Les Khakis de Chanel will be available for $25 per bottle in Chanel boutiques, on Chanel.com and in select department stores.

In this soon-to-be-a-fall-trend face-off, which one wins a bigger place in your heart? In this corner, we have a lovely purple as seen over the weekend on Drew Barrymore:

And in this one, we have Dianna Agron’s blue polish.

Which one do you predict you’ll be wearing more often come fall? That eye-catching blue? That grape-y purple?

I was super excited over July and August’s Nail Polish Picks of the Monthbecause I’m all about bright hues for the summertime. I’ve always thought of dark nail polish as a strictly fall/winter season thing. (Maybe because the darker months make me feel a little more moody, who knows!?) But these three cute Hollywood ladies are out to prove me wrong:

Last summer, we saw a few celeb beauties trying to make the dark nail look work by pairing them with bright clothing. Emma Roberts tries to rekindle the dark/bright contrast with black nails paired next to her neon green dress:

On the other hand, it looks like Kim Kardashian didn’t have any second thoughts about matching her dark-as-night-nails to her black dress:

Nor did Ashley Benson (who you may know from “Pretty Little Liars”) with her matching black clutch:

THE Mad Men franchise is set to continue its expansion with a new nail polish line, according to WWD. Produced in collaboration with Californian-based nail polish brand Nailtini,Mad Men‘s costume designer Janie Bryant has come up with four limited-edition nail shades, inspired by the sumptuous fabrics used for making cocktail dresses during the early Sixties. The Mad Men TV series, currently airing its fourth season in America, has spawned everything from clothing lines to Barbie dolls, and has even been credited with inspiring the trend for a more womanly silhouette on the catwalks, led by the likes of voluptuous modelLara Stone.

Fall 2010 Top Nail Polish Trends

This summer, we dipped our digits in bright, funky shades of turquoise, orange, and pink, and even experimented with scented lacquers, eye-dilating neons, and at-home Minx.

But with the hot-weather months slowly coming to an end, we are looking forward to painting our nails inmesmerizing and moody colors that evoke the essence of fall — nail colors that we can accessorize with the season’s staples: chunky sweaters, motorcycle jackets, patterned tights, high-waist trousers.

A Beautiful Life has created a line of natural nail polishes, making “going green” fun for all. The bold- colored polishes are free of harsh chemicals, so they’re safe on your nails and even kid- friendly.

I’ve tried the “frosh” color, which is pink with a hint of blue shine, on my toes. The polish dried fairly quickly and I’m on day three with no chips.

There’s been a lot of chatter lately about Lady Gaga and Christina Aguilera’s latex outfits.

But really, all this “who wore it first, who wore it better?” banter is moot, because the real answer is that twenty years ago, Madonna and Cyndi Lauper were the originals.

As always, everything old is new again, and evidently the recent 1980s style revival shows no signs of slowing: witness the new Plastix Collection from Orly.

“The beauty of the palettes is that you can create many looks ranging from neutral to dramatic. For a neutral look, use shades 1 and 3. To add more color, blend shades 2 and 4 to your desired intensity and line the eye with shade 5. I want women to play and have fun with the colors!” – Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, Estée Lauder.

Introducing the new vision in color for the Fall 2010 season, the Blue Dahlia Pure Color Collection for smoldering eyes, shimmering lips and bold nails. Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux debuted his inspiration for this collection backstage at the Derek Lam Autumn/Winter 2010 Fashion Show.

Fall 2010 Nail Trend: Yves Saint Laurent

Posted by admin On July - 10 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

Usually, the make-up collections offer a focus on the eyes or (more rarely) lips. Never were so many nails in the center of a collection. With “Rock and Baroque” Yves Saint Laurent stands and starts sewing the French manicure colors normally separate.

The varnish will be sold in pairs. First duo: “Beautiful Day” with a purple and turquoise. Surely one of the most daring duos. No fixed rule for this set of beautiful hands. It either to the turquoise on the entire nail and purple on the tip or vice versa. At each of the style you choose.

Second pair: Rive Gauche, probably the most daring, or just more summery. A daring right out of the kits in stores (August 16). The winter could quickly divert these two fluorescent colors, wrongly.

Third pair: Beautiful night, with a gold and purple. We imagine worn for the holidays of the year very easily. There is a fourth pair of French manicure, classic Y-cone. A pink and white, to make a classic French manicure.

Calling all Swiss misses: This fall, OPI is embarking on an European tour, and its first stop is Switzerland.

From the spiky peaks of the Alps to the chateaus of Lucerne the famous Bern bears, the rooftop of Europe was the inspiration for the 12 decadent shades that make up the ubiquitous nail lacquer’s Fall 2010 color collection.

“Switzerland provided the inspiration for this season, with a backdrop of snow-peaked mountains, lush glacial valleys, and glittering lakes,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “With luxurious hues across the color spectrum, the Swiss Collection features jeweled tones from ruby red to shimmering gold and everything in between.”

“The Swiss Collection features the same relaxed luxury that walked the fashion runways, where timeless shades of black, camel and cream were met with a wealth of jeweled emerald, sapphire, and gold,” explains Weiss-Fischmann. “Wearing these colors on fingers and toes will accessorize the season’s must-have pieces – from masculine-inspired tailored jackets contrasted with ultra-feminine dresses to beautiful bohemian garments with toughened touches of leather.”
