How to Wear the Bold Brow Beauty Trend

Posted by admin On August - 30 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

This fall, as you’ve been flipping through the September issues, you’ve most likely noticed a bevy of bushy-browed models and celebrities reminiscent of Brooke Shields à la “The Blue Lagoon” and Madonna during her “Like A Virgin” days.

Well, your eyes weren’t playing tricks on you.

A new school of in-your-face arches emerged on the Fall 2010 runways of Prada, Thakoon, Balenciaga,Narciso Rodriguez, and Marni. And trendsetters like Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker, andScarlett Johansson have all been spotted wearing sharp brows.

“I think that brows are one of the most important features of the face. Whether it was in the ’40s or the ’90s or now, brows always resurface and show us why they’re important,” says CoverGirl celebrity makeup artist Molly Stern. “In a bold brow lies the strength and character of the face.”

While this fall makeup trend may appear to be a bit masculine, the fresh take on this look has a feminine and flattering appeal that’s simple to recreate, according to M.A.C. Cosmetics senior artist Romero Jennings.

“The most important thing to remember when going bolder is to make sure to always choose an eyebrow pencil or powder that is one shade lighter than your own brow’s color for a modern, approachable brow that does not look dated,” says Jennings.

Eager to break out our brow pencils, StyleList tasked makeup artist Emily Kate Warren to mold these runway looks into wearable, bold brows on a real women — namely, Amy Preiser, an associate editor at ShelterPop.

You want to start with well-groomed eyebrows. Using a good pair of tweezers, pluck away any stray hairs. But don’t overdo it, cautions Stern. “If you are unable to stand back and edit yourself, you should have them professionally done.”

Brush brows upwards then lightly draw dashes to fill in gaps that are between your natural hairs using a brow pencil like Clé de Peau Beauté Eyebrow Pencil that is one shade lighter than your natural hairs. Then take an angled brush dipped in a powder the color of your natural brows to darken. Warren recommends not going outside of your natural shape, but deepening just enough so that you can’t see much skin beneath.

Color Trends for Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011

Posted by admin On August - 22 - 2010 1 COMMENT

Black. Considering the fact we are getting ready for colder seasons it is quite clear why designers paid more attention to darker colors. And it’s not surpising at all that black was the most popular. It’s classic, slimming and always looks elegant.

Red. This color is the sexiest of all. Woman in red is certainly in the center of attention. And isn’t that what we all strive for?

Yellow. This color isn’t very trendy this season but it appears from time to time in Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011 collections. And you know what? It looks fabulous! So, if you are ready to experiment you can create amazing looks with this tint.

Green. Green is a color we miss a lot during cold months. So, a green coat or pants or anything will help you bring good memories of summer and spring. Try the green color trend and remind yourself of invigorating spring mornings!

Blue. Blue is hot for Fall/ Winter 2010/ 2011. And you can find variation of it in multiple designer ranges. From light delicate blue to dark saturated and even midnight blue – this trend will work just perfectly for the fashion season.

Posted by admin On August - 14 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

When we look back on the makeup trends that ruled the Fall 2010 runways, purple reigns! From theshimmering mauve lids at Carolina Herrera to the deep plum pouts at Peter Som, this season is all aboutgetting pretty in purple.

And you don’t have to worry about looking like an extra from a Prince video. Mega beauty brands have blended sophisticated shades of orchid, mauve, lavender, and eggplant into eyeshadows, nail polishes, and lipsticks, including the seductive lip hues, pictured above.

There is certainly a fall trend in hair and beauty for everyone for this autumn.

Sultry, kohl-rimmed eyes, graphic brows and look–at-me lashes are a surefire option for those with a flair for the dramatic. Fresh faces and ponytails are perfect for the more laid-back ladies, and slept-in ”I don’t care” hairstyles and makeup — circa Kate Moss from the early 1990s — will be a cool kid favorite.

M.A.C. Cosmetics senior makeup artist Romero Jennings summed it up best: “Makeup for Fall 2010 was really technical and moody! Some of the looks were so moody they seemed to be deep in thought.”

Red Alert: Trends

Posted by admin On August - 10 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

This season it’s better red than dead

Many designers favoured an overtly intellectual approach to dressing for the autumn/winter collections, some punctuating their line-ups with a bold stamp of red, as if willing the return to more prosperous, or at least happier, times. It was Maison Martin Margiela andGivenchy that most obviously used the vibrant hue to dramatic effect, on mannish tailoring and glamorous accessories including gloves, clutch bags and booties.

Celebrities Love Simone Camille Bags

Posted by admin On August - 7 - 2010 ADD COMMENTS

I only recently become aware of Simone Camille when their range of bags were added to Net-A-Porter US and Net-A-Porter International two weeks ago.

You’ll maybe surprised to learn that they have been restocked several times as the bags instantly sell-out.

I’m a bit behind because celebs like Miley Cyrus, Nicole Richie and Jennifer Meyer have been fans of these bags for a while.

Julia Roberts arrived for her appearance on “The Late Show with David Letterman” wearing a black tee and J Brand jeans which is quite a typical look for her, but it was her Simone Camille which stood out.
